For twenty years, Patrick worked as a copywriter and creative director inside advertising agencies, building campaigns for brands you'd recognize. It's a strange education for what he does now, but the right one: agency work trains you to step into someone else's voice for a living — a CEO's, a brand's, a stranger's — and write as though you were them.

That skill turned out to be the whole job. A memoir isn't well-written when it sounds impressive. It's well-written when it sounds like the person who lived it — their rhythm, their humor, the way they'd actually tell the story at the table. Twenty years of learning to disappear into someone else's voice is what makes that possible.

Patrick holds a BA in English from Butler University. Including national and regional ad campaigns, his own writing has appeared in Sports Illustrated. Today, he brings that same craft to one story at a time — sitting down with individuals and families to turn a lifetime of memory into a book that sounds unmistakably like them.
